Mantiqueira de Minas, Minas Gerais
Nossa Senhora Aparecida
Yellow Bourbon & Yellow Catuai
The third instalment to our house filter coffee offering has been sourced from fourth generation coffee farmers, the Villela family.
The farm has been in the family for over 60 years and has built a reputation that cumulated in 2014, when a lot from their estate ranked first in the Cup of Excellence naturals competition. It received the highest score ever at the time for a natural Brazilian coffee, 92.22 points.
At Nossa Senhora Aparecida, the cherries are selectively handpicked and processed on the same day of harvesting. The cherries for the natural lots move to the drying patio. Here Ivanil Villela guards the drying process. He rakes the cherries regularly to ensure uniformed drying.
In 2011, Mantiqueira de Minas received a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) due to its tradition and worldwide reputation for producing high quality coffees.
