This delicious coffee is from a private mill producing natural coffees in the local community of Aricha, in the highlands close to Yirgacheffe. The natural coffees from this region are known for their unique flavour characteristics. The cherries are hand-picked and hand-sorted for unripe and over-ripe cherries to get a sweeter and cleaner product.
Natural coffees are typically processed at the later part of harvest when the cherries at higher altitude reach maturity. They’re picked and sorted by hand to ensure quality before drying on African raised beds for around 14-21 days. Once they’ve reached their desired moisture content they’re milled and prepared for export.
We have found this coffee to be light, delicate but have complex character. Notes of subtle fermented honey mead along with sweet fig and fresh grape like acidity give this coffee a very balanced and lingering aftertaste.
