DESCRIPTION

Experience the warmth of the festive season with our Christmas coffee Los Huipiles — a gift from the heart of Huehuetenango, Guatemala. Nestled in the mountains near the Mexico border, this exceptional coffee is cultivated by farmers who have been refining their craft through sustainable farming practices since 2016. Thanks to their dedication, 170 local farmers have increased their productivity and enhanced the rich, distinctive flavours of their coffee — perfect for savouring during the cosy winter months.

Huehuetenango, one of Guatemala’s most renowned coffee regions, is also one of their highest and driest non volcanic areas. The region benefits from warm winds that come from Mexico’s Tehuantepec plain, shielding crops from frost and enabling coffee to thrive at altitudes of up to 2,000 metres above sea level. The mountainous terrain and plentiful rivers make it possible for nearly all farmers to process their coffee locally, preserving the distinct qualities of the region’s coffee.

This region is renowned not only for its exceptional coffee but also for its vibrant culture. Home to several Maya groups, the region’s rich traditions are woven into the fabric of daily life. The name Los Huipiles honours the iconic handwoven garments worn by indigenous women, crafted in various colours and patterns, each representing the unique identity and artistry of the community that dates back centuries.
